Phoebe Academy High School

June 19-25, 2016

An interest in theology or service to the church is a blessing that should be encouraged. For young women we seek to nurture a thirst for knowledge about faith, and service with Phoebe Academy

At Concordia Theological Seminary men and women are educated and serve side by side learning to celebrate the distinctive ways God has given them to serve. However, all too often it is not clear how women serve faithfully in our church.

In the history of the church, deaconesses have proved indispensable. In the early church they were able to engage a hostile world through ministry to women, children, the poor, slaves and the sick. Our modern world also has the same need for the service of deaconesses, through whom the Church can meet the culture with a public ministry of mercy and charity. Deaconesses embody God's mercy by promoting the bonds of love within the fellowship of the Church.

Young women who seek to learn more about theology and the office of deaconess and/or are considering serving the church in this way are especially invited to attend Phoebe Academy.
